One of the first thing I bought to furnish my new home in Canada is a Kotatsu. I don't even have a bed, tv and such yet and still don't regret buying this first, so essential to survive the Canadian winter.
Some of you asked where to get one in Canada. They're not that difficult to find actually, I bought mine on Amazon CA, imported from Japan! Be careful though, you might want to use a power converter (the black box on the picture) as the voltage isn't the same here as in Japan.
